My cycling journey started right here, at this local corner Bikeshop. In 2015, I picked up a used Commuter, an “Iron Horse” 26” 3x9 powerhouse! I was stoked about exploring the city car-free and care-free. Over the years, the bunch of jerks, amazing folks of Sellwood kept me riding, and eventually helped me upgrade to my first “fast” bike, a used Giant OCR 2. Do you see the pattern? Sellwood Cycles got me riding and kept me riding for longer! And they still do, for so many in Oregon.

The shop itself reflects so much of what Sellwood Cycles is about; at every corner, an ornament from a local event, like Bridge City CX, face cutouts of the S&M Team members, or the many hidden in plain sight relics installed by previous Sellwooders, like Gram (like the Wight). Seriously, these little details in every nook and cranny reflect the rich history of the shop, people, ventures, races locally and internationally, and much more!

To me, these little details can’t be replicated with intention; they are a result of the “Moment” slowly created as life goes by. I sure felt that effect on me; it started with a conversation with the folks at Sellwood Cycles and flourished into something all-consuming (in the most positive ways). Heck, the simple action of chatting with them created a long reaction that’s still unfolding to this day; I mean, this website, side hustle, whatever I’m doing here can be directly traced back to Sellwood Cycles. It just hit me as I wrote these words…! I’m grateful for the years, the miles, the many tune-ups, and much more with Sellwood Cycles!
